Welcome To The Wine Country Rock Crawlers

The Wine Country Rock Crawlers is a 4X4 club made up of a small group of rock crawling four wheelers who want to have fun and contribute to the improvement of off-road activities. We enjoy getting together, whether it be for a fun potluck dinner meeting, or a three-day run over the Rubicon. We're also here to help out on four wheeling conservation projects with our local land agencies.

President's Message - third quarter

It’s hard to believe that half of the year 2010 is over already!  I was glad to welcome the first day of summer with some weather that at least resembled summer a little.  This spring had brought some really freaky weather resulting in more rain than we have had in recent past.  And with that rain of course brought more snow in the Sierras. Deep snow that has usually melted off the camping spots didn’t this year and kind of cramped our style a little with early runs in the high Sierras.

Paul stepped up to welcome summer in true WCRC style by providing BBQ at Cow Mountain preceding a moonlight run.  Thanks Paul!  Hopefully this will help put everyone in the wheeling spirit and get more families out on the trail.

We have a family style July 4th campout planned based out of Airport Flat.  The following weekend our sister club 4x4 in Motion will be putting on their annual Niagara Rim Run.  This is always a good one with one of the best raffles in the country!

August will bring Sierra Trek back to Meadow Lake.  Dwight is already warming up his wrist in preparation to flip those pancakes for all the hungry wheelers on Friday morning.

In September we will be travelling to Washington State to sample some of the wheeling up there.

Other events this quarter include:

A couple of Cal-Rocks events that are well within reach

Lassen-Applegate Trail ride July 16 – 19

Jeep Jamboree and the Jeepers Jamboree July 22 – 25

Mill tour September 18&19

President's Message 2nd Quarter
Written by Mike Seibold

The first quarter is almost behind us.  We enjoyed quite a few activities in the first three months of the year and enjoyed some spectacular weather!  We hope to get some more members out in the coming months and really get those rigs dirty.  Dusty, muddy, or stuck in the snow, anything could happen this time of year.  It looks like we need to add some runs to the calendar in May and June.  Don’t be shy, put your thinking caps on and come up with something creative.  It you want help setting up a run or activity contact one of the BOD members.  They are always glad to help.

We have two runs coming up the in April. First is the annual Mustang Run in Reno on April 10th and second is the Santa Rosa Four Wheel Parts Fun Run at Cow Mountain. More information on both runs on our web site including signing up for the runs. I have attached the flyer for the 4 Wheel Parts Run. If you have any questions about the Mustang Run contact Ken.  And you can direct questions about the 4 Wheel Parts run by calling the Santa Rosa store.

May brings a Swap Meet at the 4 Wheel Parts in Santa Rosa on the 15th.  Contact anyone at the store for more info.  This is a great time to clean out the garage and the storage shed.  Bring all those parts and pieces that you no longer have use for and sell them to someone who will put them to use.  Recycling is very popular these days!  Not to mention the process generates cash to put back into your next big upgrade.

The second event in May is Wench Creek over the Memorial Day weekend.  The Club has reserved the campsite and will hold that reservation provided that there is sufficient interest.  If you are planning on attending it is critical that you sign up in the Events section immediately.

June 11th – 13th will be our Spring Rubicon Run.  Sign up for that one as well.  Chances are that there will be a couple of choices on the format for this run.  There should be something to accommodate everyone.
