On Sunday the 24th of June rigs went to Cow for a little wheel'en.

Land Cruzer

We aired down and headed to the playground. Kyle had invited his friend Andy and his dad Les to join us in there 91 YJ that they had recently completed a Skyjacker mono leaf lift with 35' s. Both Kyle and Andy were driving there dad's Jeeps around the playground having a good time. Mike had also been trying out his new rig on a few of the rocks, while Joe was going through the Joerock pile on his way up the short hill climb. . Joe had already done it before and was going again. Unfortunately his line was not the same as the time before and he got hung up. Joe decided to winch up the hill using a nearby tree. The tree was starting to come out of the ground so he hooked on to my Jeep that Kyle was driving, but my Jeep was not enough of an anchor either. We looked at the situation again and decided to pull Joe off the rocks from behind.Behind I lined up my Jeep and hooked up Joe, still with no movement from my winch. We high lifted Joe's tire to put some rocks under the left rear tire since the rear diff was up against a large rock. Once we got the Jeep up high enough to clear the rock that was catching the diff the Jeep moved back. Unfortunately Joe had lost the U Joint to the rear drive line. Joe pulled the rear shaft and he and Mike headed back to staging to air up and head home. Kyle and I, Andy and Less headed down to Noble Pond then came back up the trail and headed for staging. We made it back to Sonoma county in the middle of the afternoon.

Thanks
Great job on the run report, Ken. It sounds like you had a lot of fun, except for the breakage.

It looks like the BLM might have new maps of the Cow Mountain area. The trails are now numbered, named, and rated (green box, black diamond,..). Is this new?

The online maps can be found HERE
