Kyle, Mike and I headed toward Wrights Lake on Friday afternoon. It was close to 100 degrees as we went through Sacramento Valley and toward Placerville. We were going to stop in Placerville for lunch which we did. However we made an upbrupt stop off the highway in Placerville, which was a problem. I was riding with Mike so Kyle to crank up his music. Mike and I heard what we thought was lock up Kyle's brakes, it was actually a downshift from 5th to 2nd gear as he had lost his right front brake line and had no brakes. I was pretty impressed for a realitively new driver to think that fast with no brakes and downshift hard to avoid a rear end collission, yea a proud father!!  Kyle had spare brake lines and fluid and with a little advice from Mike we were ready to go have a quick burger. It was also fortunate that Kyle lost his brakes about 50 yards from the only parking garage in the area. So we were able to get out of the hot son and change the brake line under cover where it was much cooler. We rolled into camp about 5 pm. Dan, Ken, 30 and Rick had taken there Jeeps to the rock pile Friday without incident.

Saturday morning we split into two groups. Ken Sparks lead our group. Doug, Jerry, Rick and Dan in the other.  Rick and Dan stayed back at the rock pile and Jerry and Doug caught up to us at the rock garden. We made it into the lake at about 11 am and by 12 we headed back toward camp. We were all back in camp by the middle of the afternoon. Other than a few minor scrapes, I am not aware of any broken parts or mechanical failures. Next time you see Doug ask him about the bear!

Saturday night we had a great campfire even though the weather was so nice it wasn't really even needed.

Sunday morning we all packed up and headed for home.
